It costs about $16,000 to run the Summer Reading Program each summer. We provide 5 weeks of one-on-one tutoring, computer and art classes each summer. In order to provide these services free of charge we need to raise around $7,000. These funds allow us to provide stipends for 6 teens to work as tutors in our program. They also assist with Computer lessons and Art lessons. The remainder of the money needed provides nominal stipends to our staff of professionals including a Title 1 Teacher and certified Elementary Education Teacher. In addition, the funds pay for consumable supplies needed during the program and school supplies given to each student at the end of the program. Funders:
We want to acknowledge and thank the Broadway Christian Church and its congregation for housing and supporting our program along with the following entities for their generous support. Beyond these there are numerous individuals who give generously to our cause throughout the years. We are so blessed and thankful for each and every one of them. |

Jessica Laursen Memorial Fund:
Jessica Un Lee Laursen (Chang), 43, passed on to glory on November 23, 2021.
She graduated from Strongsville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. She taught mathematics at Open Door Christian School in Elyria and loved mentoring teens and young adults through her church, North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church. She was also an avid supporter of our Summer Reading Program here at Broadway Christian Church. She continues to support our program even in her passing. Thanks to her, her family and all who have generously donated in her name. We were able to purchase 11 Chrome Books with the money donated for the children in the Summer Reading Program, so her legacy will touch children's lives even in the years to come.
